Log Strap

Now how many times have you tried to cut a log on the bandsaw and it is jerked out of your hands and binds on the blade. This normally ends up putting a kink in the blade if not breaking it. I had finally had enough and came up with a simple tool to hold that log better.

The strap is from one of those tie down straps and about 45" long. The wood was just a piece of 3/4" plywood scrap I had laying around. As far at the real size it can be whatever feels comfortable to you.

Shape any way you want. I used carpet tacks to attach the strap to the wood.

To use just put log into the loop.

Then use it as a handle to get that extra leverage to keep the log from rolling when you make your cuts.
